In 2019, the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) will hold the 16th edition of the Orientation Programme for Junior Professional Officers (JPOs).
Newly recruited JPOs in this programme, traditionally comprise a heterogeneous group with very different cultural, academic and professional backgrounds. Furthermore, selected participants are being deployed in equally diverse organizations and work realities across the world in headquarters and field locations.
In accordance with the group’s diversity, UNSSC’s programme focuses on core and crosscutting issues. The training provides JPOs with a common package of knowledge, skills and competencies that are necessary for them to be effective and undertake successful careers in the UN system. The Programme provides a safe learning environment where participants can share their experiences, concerns and objectives, while also developing a strong professional and peer support network.
This workshop targets current Swedish SARCs, SDPs and JPOs who have almost reached the conclusion of their working assignment and now wish to explore possible future career paths, with great focus on UN developments. Since the workshop features a majority of SARCs, it will focus on the ongoing UN Development System reform and its practical applications. The exchange of experiences and practices among participants will be an essential characteristic of the Programme.
Also, the Programme’s goal is to equip the group with a set of tools, skills and knowledge which will effectively support and guide their future professional steps and careers.
This annual gathering brings together all those responsible for learning, training and staff development in United Nations agencies, funds and programmes as well as other international organizations.
This workshop targets current JPOs (Swedish and Finnish) on duty in head-quarters or in the field, who have almost reached the conclusion of their working assignment and now wish to explore possible future career paths and developments.
Therefore, the Programme’s main goal is to equip the group with a set of tools, skills and knowledge which will effectively support and guide their future professional steps and careers.
